What is a Doula?
Doula comes from the Greek word for "woman servant." It is our mission to empower mothers as they begin the humble work of parenting. We help expecting families get a loving start by supporting the birthing mother with physical comfort measures, emotional reassurance and comprehensive knowledge regarding options and interventions in pregnancy, childbirth, and the immediate postpartum period. A doula is a contractor and works for you, not your caregiver or hospital; a doula does not perform any medical tasks, make decisions on behalf of the laboring mother or speak to clinical staff about their family's choices.
